Handy and Talky bring different world views to the HelloTalk experience to cover a wide spectrum of emotions that are relatable to any user on a given day.

Meet Handy

Handy is a dreamer with energy to burn. When others see obstacles, he sees possibility. The only thing he loves more than exploring new places around the globe is helping HelloTalkers make new connections and succeed in their language learning. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Handy is action-oriented and known for getting things done - though he could benefit from a bit of planning. HelloTalkers love his positivity, bright smile, and his cheerful wave is usually a sure way to start things off on the right foot!

Talky is Handy's best friend. His unwavering loyalty means he's always there to help Handy despite not always having faith in his often ambitious plans. People love Talky because they know he's always got their back Talky is a gifted linguist - speaking over 160+ languages and counting. A typical day involves for Talky usually involves him having to rescue Handy from his own enthusiasm after he's jumped in hand first to a social situation and exhausted the three words he knows in Japanese.

Eyes are an important part of how our characters communicate with the world. Handy and Talky are easily distinguished by their different eye styles.

Moods

Eyes are the main element to convey the character's emotions. You can use enlarged or reduced pupils, lower the upper or lower eyelids, or use highlight graphics to enhance the character's emotions and make our image more lively and interesting.

THandy's mood is expressed by moving both the upper and lower eyelids. Talky's eyes are normally in the state of lowering the eyelid, and can be stretched when he is in high spirits.
