How can I transfer my chat history between devices?

Currently, synchronizing HelloTalk conversations between iOS and Android devices is not supported. However, if you would like to sync your chat history from iOS to iOS or Android to Android, please try the following methods:

For iOS -> iOS device:

1. First back up your chat history on your old device (view instruction here)

2. Enable iCloud for the HelloTalk app in your iPhone's settings

3. Registering via Email: The iOS Restore Backup Option only appears with accounts registered/logged in via email address. You will be prompted with the option of Restore Backup once you log into your account on a new iOS device.

4. Registering via non-email methods:

1. If you signed up for your account using a third-party service (Apple ID/Facebook/Google/WeChat/QQ/Phone number), the Restore Backup Option will not pop up once you reinstall the app and log in to your account. In this case, we suggest you set up an email address and password from Me > Settings > Account > Email.

2. Please make sure the email address you bind with your HelloTalk account is a correct and valid. After that, please uninstall and reinstall the app. Next, log in to your account with the email address and password you set up. You will be prompted with the Restore Backup option once you log into your account.

For Android -> Android device:
1. First back up your chat history on your old device (view instructions here)

2. Install HelloTalk on your new device, and log in to your HelloTalk account

3. After logging in, you will be prompted to restore chats from backup, click Yes to restore
