His tweet blew up in his face because he said a joke relating to the earthquake.
震災に絡めたジョークを言ったため、彼のツイートは炎上した。


② come to terms with ー To begin to or make an effort to understand, accept, and deal with a difficult or problematic person, thing, or situation.
妥協する、折り合いがつく、〜を受け入れる

I came to terms with my former workplace when I was laid off.
私は前職を解雇される際に折り合いをつけた。
