Kill time ...

✔️Very common idiom used in casual speaking

✔️You can use “kill time” to say you’re going to spend time doing something while you’re waiting to do something else.

✔️Example Usage

Let’s pretend my mom can only give me a ride to the place where I’m going to interview at 2 pm, however, my interview doesn’t start until 4:00 pm. This means I have 2 hours to wait.

In this situation, I can say ...
•I’m going to kill time reading my book at the cafe across the street before my interview.

Another example:
•While waiting for the bus every morning, my brother kills time by playing video games on his phone.

@Dasom Yes, you can kill time by watching a movie. “We watched a movie to kill time” before our study session. But if you want to say you were watching a movie and it was so good and you “lost track of time”— that’s perfect! Lost track of time means you forgot about the time.

Do you use “kill time” for a movie when you want to say that the movie was so great and I lost track of time?

Whenever I feel bored, then I usually read newspapers, that's my way to kill time.

    Thank you
