I did not take these images. I plan to go sometime this month
and get pictures of my own.In Illinois, we have a nature path called "Starved Rock" I wish to tell you all about. It is the most beautiful place in Illinois. 13 miles of paths with rivers for fishing and boating. A picture of what America was before industry.
The named "Starved Rock" comes from a native American legend. In 1760, Cheif Pontiac of the Ottawa Tribe was attending a tribal council meeting. At this council were also the Illinois tribe and the Pottawatomie. Violence broke out as a Illinois brave stabbed Cheif Pontiac. the Ottawa tribe wanted vengeance and a battle started. The Illinois, afraid of death, hid ontop of a great rock. After many days, the remaining Illinois starved, or threw themselves from the rock. And it was then named "Starved Rock".
