I purchased HelloTalk VIP with a free trial, so why have I been charged straight away?

If you have previously had a free trial on HelloTalk through the same Google Play or iTunes account, as per Google and App Store policy, you will not be able to have another free trial.

Why was I charged after my free trial?

I bought an annual subscription and expected to be charged every month. Why was I charged the full amount?
