While Japan had Pocky Day on November

11, the U.S. celebrated Veterans Day. For some lucky ones like me that meant a day off! I took advantage of the nice weather by getting outside (with camera in hand of course) and buying myself a cup of dark roast in a coffee shop. I sat out on the veranda and observed life for a bit. I thought about how rare that is for me these days. There were a few people out, getting some fresh air. On weekends it gets too crowded, so I avoid the town center.

I always see the same cormorant in that exact spot, he must like his perch up there. It was chilly despite the sunshine, I was glad to be dressed warmly. The ice on the lake keeps building, but it will still take a long string of cold days before it ices over for the winter. A got a nice shot of a crow looking for a snack. Later on, I observed a herd of elk move down the hill.

I need more mid-week holidays like this!
