Any questions? Does anyone know it? Is it correct above? I’m confused.

@Masa Does someone know it? ✨✅✨ (positive sentence) BUT, if a sentence has DON’T, WON’T, CAN’T or other NEGATIVE words, use “anyone”. Why won’t anyone help me? Why can’t anyone come to school today? I don’t want to talk to anyone!

@Masa There are a few exceptions. People do say “Any questions?” because natives do break the rules sometimes, and it becomes natural over time. English is weird and no rule is 100% in any language ✨💫🎓👍💫✨

@Sean @Masa I was taught to use ”any” by my textbook when I want to ask something. It is hard to use ”some” or ”any” depending on the situation. Ex: Do you need any help? Does he have any friends? Is there any milk in the fridge? However, when using ”can” or ”would”, use ”some”. Ex: Would you like some coffee? Can I have some soup, please?

@Nori Yes, those are correct, but notice, those top three questions are not requests. They are an offer of help and questions for information. In my post, I’m talking about requests from the speaker. ✨🎓✨

hey, "would anyone like to chat" is correct because it's a addressing a general audience and not singling out "one" person only. it's kinda hard to explain, but i'll post a link to one
