I went for a walk this evening along the Susquehanna River in

Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA. The sun had just come out after a thunderstorm. A lot of people come here to walk, exercise, or go fishing. A few people were kayaking too.

    @Liz “The sun had come out” because I took the photos in the past and the sun coming out took place before that. “People come here” is present tense because I do not only mean today, but also continuing into the future.

    Why using “the sun had come out” “” people come here” instead of “the sun came out” “people came here” ? I mean we’re taught in school to use one tense in one sentence.

    @David B. Me too I like it so much. I dreamed I had a magic treehouse like that then I can go everywhere. But why there are not motives or tv serious about magic treehouse?

    @samanta No worries! Some native speakers will say “had came” but it is not correct in formal writing.
