If you think about it, it's actually very strange because when you meet someone in real life, the first thing you do is greet them. You say 'hello' or some other culturally appropriate greeting. We do it out of habit, politeness, and to show the other person that we acknowledge their existence. How arrogant or self-important do you have to be to think you deserve anything more than a 'hello' from a stranger?
Don't underestimate the power of a simple hello. It could be your ticket to a new friendship, perspective, and experience. That's why it's called HT. You literally say hello and you talk. Some of my best conversations on this app have happened because someone said hello.
If someone is picky about the first thing you say to them on an app, they're probably not someone you want to learn from or be friends with anyway~~
Ironically, these also seem to be the people who complain about never having anyone to talk to.
