So I know that Chinese people typically say 我叫 to introduce themselves

. Is it also common to say 我是 to tell someone your name? Or does it matter which one is used?

    我叫is more attention to the Name. But我是 more attention who I am it also can be name but it can be doctor student balabala

    normally,people would use 我叫 to introduce themselves(talking about their name),using我是could be about their identity,and some people who think they should be known by the one they are talking to ,they would also use我是to introduce their name.as a matter of fact,your name is also you identity in a sense
