「But」と「However」を違いを説明します。
I will explain the differences between

“But” and “However”

まずbutは接続詞になり、2つの文をつなげる役割をします。
“But” is a conjunction and is use to join two sentences together.
大事なポイントは「文章の始め」には書きません。
Important point, you do not start a new sentence with “But”

例文
バスケットボールのコートにいったが、空くんがいなかった。
🙆‍♂️ I went to the Basketball court, but Sora wasn`t there.
🙅‍♂️I went to the basketball court.  But sora wasn`t there.

他の例文

空くんは小さいけど、3点ショットが上手です。
Sora is small, but he`s really good at 3-point shots.

奈緒ちゃんは若いですが、良い監督です。
Nao is young, but she is a good coach.

「However」は「but」と違って接続語ではなく「副詞」になるので、「However」は”文章の始め”には使っても大丈夫です。

例文

今日は雨が降っています。しかし、明日は晴れるでしょう。
Today it`s raining. However, tomorrow should be sunny.

漢字は難しいです。しかし、平仮名は簡単です。
Kanji is difficult.  However, Hiragana is easy.

奈緒ちゃんは若いです。しかし、良い監督です。
Nao is young. However, she is a good coach.

But I've seen sentences start with but numerous times and it seems to me it's totally fine. Like what I just did😂 I mean it's true and probably considered bad though

@Nao It’s a common mistake, I had a strict English teacher that made sure I didn’t use words like “and”,”but”.

@ジョンリー right, and it'll be no longer a mistake in the near future in my book because it happens to be widely used. Or it might be used wrongly much more often in America, idk. You'll be surprised how many people use "then" as "than", and "you're/your" mixing up is like🙈🙈🙈 I mean I speak broken English but still😅
