Mojiko Retro is a small area in Kitakyushu where you can walk

down the street and forget you are still in Japan. Many of the buildings have a old European facade which makes the small port town a unique gem. This quiet town is known for their baked curry and fugu. Across the water is Shimonoseki where there is a fish market a fraction of the size of Tsukiji.
