I’ve noticed most 日本人 on this app start their sentences with

“I want”.

I want to have a friend.
I want to call you.

This sounds a bit strong and well, we don’t really speak this way. Instead, we say “I’d like”.

I would like to have a friend.
I would like to call you.

A good comparison would be if I said:

すしがきらいです instead of saying すしがすきじゃないです
