I don’t like Independence Day...
it’s not freedom for Americans

it’s Freedom for WHITE Americans....

American history is history filled with hypocrisy and white thoughts.
America was built by African Americans, Hispanics and even Asians later in history. But the country does not acknowledge any of it.

I love America and things have changed for the better but I think it’s important to understand these “Holidays” are mainly for white history and not the blacks or others that were killed in cold blood along with their families that were forced into slavery.

It’s ok to celebrate independence but just understand the history and what we have over comed Im these last 250 years.

I also think this so-called Independence day is a disrespect to Native Americans… like this continent belonged to them initially but some people from Europe robbed it and called that "independence"😶

In China, people are classified into different groups by fortune&political position, even if we have the same color of skin. I think it is almost the same in the united states. It has something to do with colors of skin, But it's not always related to the skin. I think the greatest part of the united states is that they are so many different kind of colors of people. They live together, they become the citizen of the united states. If we study hard, we work hard. We will become someone like obama. Then we can do more things about the people about the citizen.

Exactly bro, there used to be 145 million native Americans after the Europeans took over North America their population went down to 15 million....that means 130 million of them are gone. A majority of them were killed raped and mutilated. This the reality of American history. It’s disgusting man 😞

@Abe That's the reason why I think all people of color should stand together. We were all victims of white colonialism and its terrible outcome still affects us today. But somehow there's even discrimination towards each other by some of us😒

Africa hadn’t even discovered the wheel before Europeans arrived. They also have never built a civilization, contributed to modern civilization, cultivated land, or even tamed animals. Kind of interesting how South Africa is the most advanced part of Africa also.

@Dustin Only thing factual in that statement was the wheel. Everything else was false. And I know for a fact Ethiopia has tamed lions for thousands of years, the kings and queens or tribe leaders would ride on the backs of lions to signify power and leadership. Africa in general has provided so much historical evidence of early man which today is used for science and tracing blood lines. Not to mention African Architecture was taken and demolished by the Greeks because it was more advanced than their work at the time. Also, the abundance of raw materials that have contributed to building these modern civilization. Africa is a gold mine for scientists and researchers and it’s not just because of the land it’s also because of the people and how they survived thousands of years as a civilization.

@Dustin Good things do come out of disgusting things such as colonialism but you have no right to instigate Africa was nothing before the Europeans. I’m very insulted with your uneducated comment. It’s never too hard to flip through a history book or even a National Geographical magazine

@Abe >I’m very insulted Um, ok? What are gonna do? Cry about it, and complain more on a language learning app to push your agenda, and try to make people feel sorry for you? If you aren’t happy and feel oppressed, then maybe you should go do something about it. Either that or stop believing everything you’re fed by the media, dude. They deliberately try to make you think this crap, because they wanna turn everyone against each other. So what if Africans weren’t free on Independence Day? It’s not about slavery. It was about freedom as a nation from the UK. Accept history, and move on from it. The world rewrite it because it offends you. By the way it’s “overcame” not “over comed”. I suppose you can read also, so maybe you should crack open a textbook too.

@Dustin Its never about attention it’s alway about knowledge. Especially for foreigners coming to this America. That fact that you can’t see that is a personal problem. And I do something about it I’m in multiple African American clubs in my college and we do community work also and teach real American history. Showing others the history of America does not mean it should be rewritten. When the basic foundation of a country’s existence and success was based on slavery and is denied acknowledgment then that’s an issue I will make clear to people that don’t know history. And Independence Day is pure hypocrisy. It was supposed to free the American colonies. Then the Declaration of Independence was written which signifies “All men are created equally.” If that was true then why were there still slaves?

@Dustin You said “as a nation” obviously African Americans were not even seen as humans to be a part of the “nation.” Which is the problem with this “holiday.” The American media does have its bias and the truth doesn’t always come first. But, I’m fortunate to have traveled to Africa and learn history there as well as in America. The truth is America is filled with lies and even American historians know that.

Great opportunity to know the history. There are tons of things which I don’t know about the USA including the history. I’d say it’s really good to know the reality which you cannot tell from books but you can only hear from people who lives in the country. Thank you Abe😊
