For anyone curious about American culture !!
Some facts about

a less well known city internationally, Kansas City !!

- there are actually TWO Kansas Cities, they are neighboring cities with the same name! One is in Kansas and the other in Missouri. I’ll be talking about the one in Missouri.

- in the US, KC (Kansas City) is known for Barbecue, Fountains, and Jazz.

- there are so many barbecue restaurants here that I could never keep track of them (and I’ve lived here for 20 years)

- the shopping areas in our city as well as the parks have lots of fountains, and they’re dyed different colors for special occasions!

- there is an entire district of our city known as the Jazz district, surround the street 18th and Vine where there are tons of beautiful jazz clubs where you can drink and listen to live jazz every night !!

This is just a small bit about my hometown, and there are many incredible cities in the US!!

Wow, beautiful photos! I wanna visit Kansas city in Missouri. I have wondered why there are two Kansas cities on the US map and there are too close each other. Is the city in Missouri bigger than the one in Kansas?

@Atsushi That’s a great question! So the name actually dates back to 1853, when Kansas City was founded. The name comes from the original Native American tribe that lived in the area, the “Kansa” tribe. The city was an epicenter of trade (because the city is next to a giant river, making trade efficient) and many people began to settle around the area. As more people began to settle the area they identified as people from Kansas as well, and Missouri had become a state in 1821, so the people neighboring the big city called their state Kansas! Hopefully I didn’t make that too confusing lol !!

I planned to visit Kansas City last year in order to meet a friend. Of course, it was canceled, though... Your information is quite useful!

@Gabe Thank you for your answer!! I understand why there are 2 cities whose names are same. And I have never heard about Kansa tribe. The relationship between geography and history is always interesting!
