American Culture:

Most

people in the United States don't like to eat "plane" or “hospital” food.

I am on a train to 清河 and decided to try the food on the train. I thought that the food & environnment was better than a 5 star restaurant.

Practice:

1. Do you agree or disagree with me? Why?

3. Share your thoughts/idea with everyone in the comment section.

    @marjan 😝 Yes,your opinion does make sense.
  • marjan

    i disagree because i think the quality of food is so less than 5stars restaurant
  • César

    Hi Austin! I think that food is food; none is so bad. Nevertheless, sometimes, plane or hospital food is a little limited. In my case, i'm gluten intorant and that's a huge problem.
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Rachel I am glad that you disagree. If everyone just agrees then there isn't much of a conversation.
  • Rachel

    first I am wondering if Qinghe in Hubei province? As to your question,my answer is I totally disagree with you and I believe most Chinese agree with me.Even though I rarely go to 5star restaurant,the food on the train is not competitive compared to normal Chinese fast food restaurants like 老娘舅(the rice there is terrific)
  • Tiara.uci

    @annisa ok thanks and. Sorry. I just look at Austin post
  • yaya

    @Austin thank you! i will
  • annisa

    @Tiara.uci Maksudnya restoran bintang 5 ? Kalo menurut aku kalo nama nama tempat, makanan, atau apa ga perlu di Bahasa Inggrisin kecuali itu udah di bahasa Inggrisin dari sananya contohnya "ayam" (chicken) gitu sih 😁
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @annisa We don't consider it to be fresh.
  • annisa

    Why American people don't like eat plane food ?
  • Tiara.uci

    I don't know the taste of food from 5 star restaurant because I never eat in 5 star restaurant. 😅
  • rookiea

    @Austin Good🎶
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @rookiea Good point. On the way back to Beijing we bought bread and snacks.
  • rookiea

    @Austin I think the most common way for Chinese people to deal with meal on a train is to bring their own food, usually ramen and some snacks (cause anyway it’s just one meal). But if you like fresh food, yeah, maybe the train meal is good a good option for you
  • Jacky.M

    I haven't eaten either of these, so I can't answer Haha
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @rookiea Yes,it was over 30RMB....a little expensive....but I was hungry!
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @sunny I ate too many cups of noodles in college,so don't like it anymore.😜
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @elva Haha. It is often hard for people to eat on a moving vehicle.
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Yue Yes the price was much higher but my view was better than the walls inside a restaurant😜
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Sean86 Haha. I used to love eating at Panda Express,but after coming to China......I think their food is terrible...
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Emily Go eat then!😄
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @yaya Great job! Make sure that you answer the question. Repeating my message is good,but creating your own response is even better.
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @lexie I ageee with you,but when I am go to a restaurant. I want to have more delicious food rather than less food,but looks great.
  • Emily

    I am starving right now!
  • Cindy

    I agree. i think that the food always taste better when people r hungry, especially when u r on a long journey and there's not much choice. I have ever tried it before and i liked it, the warm food on the train healed me when i was alone and hungry, it reminded me about the food that my mom cooked for me, so it wins.
  • elva

    disagree.,it tasres no good. in other word, it was terrible. maybe,when I was on the train or plane,didt have good appetipe to eat any solid food. gruel is good for me.
  • sunny

    I would rather to select instant noodles on the train,if it is long distance,I would like to wait until I arrive at the place ,and then have a meal😃
  • rookiea

    @Austin Well, the meal that I saw sold on train are a bit more expensive. But this is still more expensive than normal, a meal like this can be normally dealt with at around 10 RMB, I think (因为只有一个花荤,两个素菜而已)
  • Iris

    Just one word: Self-satisfaction sometimes makes us happy. No matter how good the 5 star food is much more better especially in taste and appearance.
  • kerwin Leng

    l think the reason why most people don't like eat "train" or "plane" food is that people on the go don't have good appetite for that.
  • Juli

    I donot like them, these foods are not good and it would waste money , I will buy some foods if I take train ,
  • Jolin

    Generally I don’t like train food, plane food or hospital food. But when someone is hungry and he don’t have many choices, these foods become delicious. Collectively, I think it depends on the environment and your hungry degree.
  • Jenny_P Lifetime VIP

    @Austin haha, try to say hi to him/her吃鸟冒撒?😂😂😂
  • Lizzy

    Disagree:) Maybe because I get car sick easily, so when I eat food on train easily make me feel more sick.If it is a long trip i'D rather dont eat at all, Or just drink some water😖
  • Linda

    @Austin because it isn't picy, Suitable for most people. haha
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Jennifer Yes,very relaxing.
  • Jennifer

    Having a cup of bear must let you relax and refreshing.
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Gary I ate that too much in college.
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Linda Kind of. The best part is that it isn't spicy
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Jenny_P Sounds great. My friend with me is from Wuhan haha
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Fancy Take a look at my post again. I believe that it is better than a 5 star
  • Linda

    Maybe,the food on the train is somewhat similar tothat at home. ☺
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @rookiea This was a good deal I thought 35 RMB for all
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Jenny_P Yes. 外卖 is good and convenient.
  • Gary

    I would rather eat instant noodles on the train.
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @由冰到水 Haha😊
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Shirley Lee Yes. Plus the amount of food is always too small...
  • Austin Lifetime VIP

    @Ol Yes,I agree. I am happy to go to 清河for a friends wedding. So maybe the purpose of my trip makes everything I do better.
  • Jenny_P Lifetime VIP

    But tbh, urs looks not bad, at least good for me, I'd like to enjoy the same meal with you in the environment!😃😃😃
  • Fancy

    So this is your requirement for a 5 star reatsurant ?
  • rookiea

    I don’t like train food or hospital food in China. The food sold on train is way more expensive (like in a tourist attraction) and taste bad
  • Jenny_P Lifetime VIP

    Really don't like them. We normally order to go food, which directly delivered on your hand, tasty, fast, convenient, Great!
  • Ol

    The picture above is really appealing, and the surrounding looks quiet and relaxing I can tell it was a nice experience
  • 由冰到水

    the meal is just soso☺
  • Shirley Lee Lifetime VIP

    I definitely agree with you. Because those food taste not good and you don't have many choices.
  • Ol

    Agree; Idk how to explain it but eating in the air for example is pretty exciting and priceless; maybe because we're surrounded by people, and being in a moving vehicle is relaxing, maybe because food is too good when we're on our way to a certain destination.
