【Japanese slang "盛り顔(morigao)"】
I posted about ドヤ顔 3 days ago
😏😎 Today's topic is 盛り顔!
We often 盛る when we take selfie.
盛る(盛る) originally means "heap up", but younger generations use 盛る as the meaning: to exaggerate/ transfigure. In short, 盛り顔 is a photoshopped selfie/ touched up selfie.
Photoshopping is not only way to make 盛り顔. We also try hard to apply make-up, adjust lighting and take in various poses to make 盛り顔. Needless to say, editing app is necessary.
If we could take 盛り顔 selfie, we say "盛れた". And if we photoshopped it too much, we say "盛りすぎた".
In additon, we also use 盛る in these situation.
⚫︎髪を盛る/盛り髪(もりがみ)➡️ bumpy hair
⚫︎話を盛る ➡️ exaggerate story
ex.
・プロフ写真、ちょっと盛りすぎたかも😂
(I photoshopped too much for my profile picture.)
・この写真、盛れてないからインスタ上げられない🙅♀️
(I can't post this photo on instagram because it doesn't look prettier.)
・今日はパーティーだから髪盛ってきた。💃
(I made bumpy hair for the party today.)
・ケンは50人と付き合ったことがあるって言ってたけど、絶対話盛ってるよな🤥
(Ken said he had had 50 girlfriends before. But he must exaggerate his story.)
Does my profile picture 盛ってる huh?
It's obvious😏😏😏
And 盛り顔 is not only our culture right?
