Idiom of the Day
“You made your bed, now you must sleep/lie in
it.” This expression is said to someone who must face the consequences of their actions. For us it is like saying, “You made a messy bed, now you will sleep in a messy bed. What did you expect?” The consequences can be trouble with the law, at work, or at home.
True Story:
Yesterday, a student emailed me one hour before Christmas vacation started and asked if he could do all of his missing work. He is at a 0%. I told him that it is impossible to do a semester’s worth of work in one hour. “You have made your bed. Now you must sleep in it.”
