Somebody asked me to teach a lesson on the differences between

“so” and “too.”
My next lesson will be on the differences between “really” and “very.”

”So” and “too” are confusing because there are some situations where they mean the same thing, but there are many situations where these words mean different things.

“So” and “too” are used to say something is extreme or intense.

“So” is used to say things that are either positive or negative.
Positive examples:
- I love you so much.
- I am so excited to go to school today.

Negative examples:
- It is so hot outside today and I don’t have anything to drink.
- I’m so tired, I wish I could go to sleep.


“Too” is USUALLY used when saying things that are negative.

Examples:
- His house is too big.
- I wanted to buy a car but the car I want is too expensive.
- That boy is too crazy.

    @David SO = "I’m so proud of myself” "I am so confused about my math classes" Too= " My friend Johnny is too shy" " This food is SO bad, I didn't like it" “Too bad” tiene otro significado... Como por ejemplo: “It’s too bad that you don’t like the food.” “Too bad” es el mismo que “es una pena” en español.

    @Innocentboy yes, that is why I said it is USUALLY used with negatives. We don’t frequently use it in positive sentences, but it can happen

    @Jerry sometimes I do more than one lesson per day! I am still in school studying to become a teacher, so I am very busy 🙂

    @Innocentboy yes, you can sometimes use “too” positively like in: - she is too nice. - they are too generous.

    what??really? how about say "too" to someone else? ex: - she is too good to explain - he is too kind to judge those 2 are positive😁
