Here is a bit of history about Merriott from wikipedia The name Merriott means boundary gate from the Old English Maergeat. The manor was held at the time of the Domesday Book in 1086 by Harding son of Eadnorth whose descendants took the name of the village and continued until the death of Sir John de Meriet in 1391. The good quality of the soil led to the development of market-gardening, with the first use in England of the word nursery (noresire) occurred at Merriot in 1369. The parish was part of the hundred of Crewkerne. Major rebuilding took place in the village following a fire in 1811. The school building dates from 1876, and now incorporates the former Sunday school which was built in 1834.

@Serhio we have a river that runs by my house and it flows through the whole village. I'm not sure what the river is called but I will find out for you. I haven't owned a horse or pony before so I do not know much about their clothing/equipment

@きょうた the local ale is very strong after a few pints you will be under the table. But in Somerset we are renowned for our cider which is even stronger

@Tim oh you make me more curious about that ale!! I’m ok with a few pints of Japanese tap beer so...I’ll see it there haha Cider also takes me fancy cuz I’ve never tried authentic one!!
  • Tim 2020.04.14 14:31

@きょうた traditional cider is not fizzy and isn't as sweet as the fizzy cider but its usually stronger. I prefer the sweeter fizzy cider. The ales sit very heavy in your stomach and you will feel like you have eaten a big meal.
