📝Talking About Work🇬🇧
I envy others' excellent language skills

here. Yet, often, English learners sound very awkward when talking about going to/from work. I hope this will help.😊
1) Company. On HelloTalk, I often see people calling work, "company." Although not grammatically incorrect, and possibly true, it just sounds very awkward.
-"I'm going to the company."❓
-"I'm going to work."👍
-"I just arrived home from the company."❓
-"I just arrived home from work."👍
Also, 'the office' sounds okay.
2) Part-Time Job: On HelloTalk, I often see people calling work, "part-time job." Again, although this may be perfectly correct, it sounds so awkward to be this specific, unless asked.
-"I'm going to my part-time job."❓
-"I'm traveling to my full-time job."❓
-"I'm going to work."👍
-"Ive just finished my part-time job." (This sounds you just quit).❓
-"I'm just starting my part-time job." (This sounds like it's your first day).❓
Again, please understand that the HelloTalk posts are often grammatically correct, and true. I'm just trying to help you to sound more natural (because that's what most people ask me for help with). 😁
Let me explain with a final example. Let's imagine that someone is on the way from their home, to their 9am til 2pm office job:
-HelloTalk post: "I'm traveling to my part-time job at the company" (sometimes including a picture of legs on a subway).😓
-Native English speaker: "I'm going to work."👍
Simple is usually best.
Thank you~ bye~😊

I think we, learners make that mistakes because the more words we say, the more fluent we sound in our mind
