Hey everyone!

I have another bit of English slang for you today

!

The phrase is “for real” this means speaking, truthfully, or honestly. Also used as a confirmation of your agreement with someone’s statement

John: Sarah this workload the boss wants us to do is insane!
Sarah: for real, we will never finish in time!

Please note this is SLANG and shouldn’t be used on a formal setting. You may also hear it pronounced “fer-real” instead of “for real“ can you hear the difference?

I hope you found this helpful! Thanks guys!

Do "for real" and "for sure" have the same meaning?

Hi !Ben. What's the difference between “slang ”and “idiom ”?

@慕容霏Faye by no means am I a linguist- so this my not be a proper explanation - but I believe an idiom is a exact use of language and words to form an alternative meaning. Where as slang is a manipulation of a word(s) to use on a social or even group level to streamline conversation or understanding

@Ben So can I understand it as, idioms are used from ancient times to the present, they are created by famous people. and slangs come from social people and are wildly used as time goes by?

in my opinion, idioms are used from ancient times to the present, they are created by famous people. and slangs come from zonal people and are used with timeliness .

Gotcha! Is the word “legit” also used to say something factual or truthful?
