Tonight, I experienced blatant racism on HelloTalk for the first

time.

It's sad, but It's also kind of funny. At least there was honesty.

    This is quite often in Asian countries especially in south east asia, where people prefer fair skin, when it comes to dating or hanging out even new generation in these countries don't like dark skinned people, there's a discrimination deeply rooted in society, especially a dark skin foreigner will always be a foreign, how hard you learn their language or culture it doesn't matter. Girl's family discriminates against a dark skin boyfriend. They only prefer dark skin people for hi hello stuff or some pictures or so called friendship, nothing more than that. Being a dark skinned myself I had my fair share of this. I'd just ignore these and move on.

    Sooooo ruuuuuuuuuude!!!! We can't judge people by colors! There're many bad white people and also very nice black people in the world. He/she doesn't know the world yet, had better learn it. But it's very true any discriminations exist in this world. I've experienced it sometimes somewhere. Some people have bad feelings against Japanese or Asian. Silly and a pity.

    @Winsor Actually, It's not only asian women. I think because of economic standing and perception of freedom and liberties, it appears to be the path of success. It's perfectly ok to prefer specific qualities of someone or a group. I think this is what you mean. However, hate based on skin color is racism. That's bad. @Alice

    I think I agree with Winsor. In my country, we try to fight against "white = beauty" for long but it still not work. People still discriminate others by their gender, skin colors and many more.
