Sometimes I don't want to 'correct' people's sentences because

the sentences would lose beauty and meaning. Even if their idea is expressed in broken English, the idea would no longer exist or be the same if it was infected with my corrections.

This is mainly for people who write poetry or on abstract topics. It's almost as if their grammatical errors become a property (or feature) of the poem; to fix their mistakes would be akin to removing the heart, soul, or spirit from the poem.

On one hand, I'd be doing them a disservice by not correcting their work, but on the otherhand, I'd be disregarding their existence as a feeling and thinking thing. While they'd learn how to write a grammatically correct sentence, their way of expression as an artist may be compromised.

It's quite the conundrum.

It’s a really fine balance between correctness and personal style. I’m really trying not to impose my personal writing style on others. I’ve found that pausing to write notes on the correction and explain my choices has been quite helpful in helping me find this balance.
