I sometimes feel "This melody

is Japanesy!" like the chorus of Kenshi Yonezu's "Paprika". I hadn't known why I felt so, but I discovered a rule!
私は時々「この曲、和風だなぁ」と思うことがあります。例えば米津玄師の「パプリカ」のサビなど。どうしてそう感じるのか分からなかったのですが、そこにはある法則がありました。

There is a music scale called "Yona nuki scale (ヨナ抜き音階)". It is one of the pentatonic scale that the 4th and 7th degrees are removed from the orinal scale. The chorus of "Paprika" was exactly used Yonanuki scale!
「ヨナ(四七)抜き音階」と呼ばれるものがあります。元の音階から第4音と第7音を抜いたものです。「パプリカ」のサビは正しく「ヨナ抜き」音階だったのです！

There is also "Okinawan scale", "Niro nuki scale (ニロ抜き音階)"🌴🌺 In this scale, the 2nd and 6th degrees are removed. I've already knew this one because I learned about it on TV when I was a kid. But this is the first time learning Yonanuki scale. Music is fascinating!
「ニロ(二六)抜き音階」、つまり「沖縄音階」もあります。これは第2音と第6音を抜いたもの。これに関しては子供頃にテレビで見たことがあったので知っていたのですが、「ヨナ抜き音階」は初めて知りました！音楽って面白い！
