The Vowels: An Enigma by Jonathan Swift.

WE are little airy

creatures,
All of different voice and features;
One of us in glass is set,
One of us you’ll find in jet,
T’other you may see in tin,
And the fourth a box within;
If the fifth you should pursue,
It can never fly from you.

    Seriously, what is Swift saying, esp in last 2 lines? Not a criticism, just puzzled. Great reading though.

    @Shamus thanks. Yeah I caught on to everything but the U, but thought maybe I was missing something. Btw thanks for posting all this poetry... even for English speakers it’s great, since it’s like reading greatest hits in an anthology. You make all of us more literate.
