잘 지내 ? - how are you ?
잘 지내 - i'm fine

잘하고 있어요 ? - are you

doing well?
잘라고 있어요 - i'm doing well

is this correct? which one is more natural? are they used in different situations or with different types of people ?

You would want to speak formally. To switch to formal speech style, simply add -요. *잘 지내요?, 잘 지내고 있어요? how’s it going? Both mean almost the same but 잘 지내요 comes from its dictionary form 잘 지내다 which literally means to get along well whereas 잘 지내고 있어요? if I can break these down into words, it would be 잘 well 지내다 to get along -고 comes from the word, 그리고 which means “and” 있다 to be Now 잘하고 있어요? is to ask if you’re doing/ you’ve been doing certain things well. Hope that helps!
