“Knee-jerk reaction”

When you do something

out of instinct without thought, this is done as a “knee-jerk reaction.” Perhaps you immediately clean a mess that your children make. Or maybe you immediately respond to a social media post that has a strong trigger to your emotions. Or you can’t stop yourself from making an impulse purchase on a sale item. All of these situations and more are “knee-jerk reactions.”

And it is important to control them.
