My biggest problem with language exchange apps is that no one seriously wants to be friends with me. No one wants to seriously practice with me. They don't want to talk to me in English and most of the time I just get messages from weird guys asking me to be their girlfriend. Eventually my messages are either ignored or I get a reply from someone who wants a foreign girlfriend who can speak both Japanese and English.
