Idiom of the Day

“My neck of the woods”

When you tell someone

, “this is my neck of the woods,” you are telling them that this is where you live. It can be a city, a province or prefecture, but especially a local neighborhood. In a way, you are saying this is your home turf and you know this place in great detail. You can show them places of interest that only a local person would know about. You are very familiar with the history of the area and it is likely you grew up in this location.

@Scott Cecil Allen Thanks a million. I have been learning hard everyday and try to imitate your native speaker’s accent. It needs time, but I have confidence in myself. I know persistence is key to achieving my goals, so I have never ceased my learning. I will keep going. 😊
