***TIPS for Learning Languages - Part 2***

This is something

I have heard from a fiend who speaks multiple languages some years ago and it has been the case in my experience as well.

There are two main parts in learning a language:

1. Produce the language: Using the language to express yourself and your thoughts (To write and to speak)

2. Process the language: Understand someone else using the language (To read and to listen)

If you want to be fluent in a language, both parts are necessary. However, what comes first to be fluent is to produce the language, that is to write and to talk. You don’t need a high level to write something and have a basic conversation. Listening is often quite challenging but you will see that if you actively produce the language, you will get better in listening because it will improve your vocabulary, structure and perception, which you need to understand what other people say.

People often get impatient and they want to speak right away but speaking can be difficult initially. Writing is the same process for your brain where you compose a sentence, but in writing you have more time to think about the order or you can look up words that you don’t know. So if you keep writing every day and chat with your friends, even about some basic things you do daily, your speaking will get better.

To be continued :)
