Material things actually mean something. I observe the relationships of my friends and relatives for a long time and I also read some books about relationships. I personally think most arguments between people in family or couples are because of lacking material things and high expectations. For example, the mother wants to provide better material things with her children, and the father probably would get some pressure or complainments. Another example, some parents in China want their adult children to get higher salary and compare It with their friends' or relatives' adult children. I think material things is not that important but actually it's important. It couldn't mean nothing. We obviously should value family or something related to caring and love. The fact is most people also fight for better material life for people they love.
