How important is stroke order for writing Chinese? I've heard

it is very important but what is the opinion of the average Chinese person?

    It depends on how you treat Chinese characters. If you want to write it well, then stroke order is actually quite important. One horizontal and one vertical, one curl and one hold. The words look beautiful only if the stroke order is correct.

    @Sean Sky you can buy a Chinese character dictionary which is for pupil. in this kind of dictionary, every character has its way to write in order

    i think stroke order is very important. because when i taught my little nephew to write character, i found that it is really hard for him to write correctly if he doesn't in stroke order. if you don't write in order, the characters would like medley.

    @Abby Yes I'm aware of these rules actually. I try to follow them but sometimes I'm surprised when I see the correct order for certain characters.

    @Evelyn _Li is the written version different from typed? I know when I was learning Korean writing there is a difference between typed and handwritten language. Is it wrong to handwrite the type font?
