I came across this poem a few years ago and it left a mark on

me.

I like the idea that meeting someone means you're also meeting everything about that person, their past, present, and future; their heartaches and happiest moments; and their whole heart, mind and soul.

If you could scratch their surface, if you could see past through the walls they've built, to discover what makes them who they are, that is such a frightening and comfortable place to be.
