@Smursmurfik this is the background to my photo.👍🍀🙂 The Memorial Gardens are in remembrance to the 49,400 Irish soldiers who gave their lives in the Great War (1914-1918). The Memorial Gardens were designed by world renowned English architect Sir Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944). Building work on the Gardens was completed in 1937. The photo is the entrance to one of four bookrooms in the Memorial Gardens. Each bookroom represents one of the four provinces of Ireland. The names of all 49,400 Irish soldiers lost in the Great War are contained in these rooms.
