🇬🇧🇬🇧 English expression time!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧

"don't go crying over spilt milk"

we can use "don't cry over spilt milk/it's no use crying over spilled milk" when we want to express regret about something that has already happened or cannot be changed or that there is no use in being upset over situations that have already happened and cannot be changed.

"While its sad that the results have not been as good as you expected, you should now focus on moving ahead and achieving better results next time; there is no use crying over spilt milk.

"Valarie's car was badly damaged in the accident and he was angry about what had happened, but he soon realized that there was no use crying over spilt milk."

"The school trip had been a disaster, but we did not want to dwell on it. It was no use crying over spilt milk."

I have learned it slightly different, like: “don’t cry over spoiled milk”. Maybe it was a shorter version with a different word and brand of milk hahaha. From now and on, I’m going to remember : don’t go crying over split milk (accent included).

I knew you studied very hard for the exam but you couldn’t make a grade, so there's no use in crying over spilt milk now. Try harder next time.

@Diana R yeah it's the same difference! Spoiled means it's no longer fresh so can't be drank, rather than a brand name! I think that's more common in America :)
