    @Ulv yes, it's a weird we use as English speakers but the word has Arabic roots. Basically, it is in general use but we've "borrowed" it from that language, just like we have the words safari, cigar, cartoon, wanderlust, cookie

    I thought for a while it was about another language not English, the same word is known in other cultures, at least in North Africa. I have to check its etymology to know its origin because it doesn't sound English for me.

    @Corinne i thought Kismet is an Urdu or Arabic word. I was familiar with this word before, but was hesitant to use in any formal English conversation. Please could you clarify if we could use this word 'Kismet' in writing & speaking officially?
