Idiom of the Day

“Keep the ball rolling” &
“A rolling stone

gathers no moss”

When you “keep the ball rolling,” you are continuing to put forth effort into an objective so that you do not lose momentum. Maybe you submitted a job application, and now they are requesting you take a competency test. You would “keep the ball rolling” by taking this test, and maybe follow up with an email a few days later to check on the progress of your application. We also would say “a rolling stone gathers no moss,” meaning if you keep moving, you will not be hindered.

@Scott Cecil Allen I went to find "keep on rolling" by REO and I hit to "proud Mary" by Tina Turner interpreted by Beyonce...

@Abd El Rhman Gouda It is different. Snow balling means that you start off small and build into something huge.

If you guys want, you can listen to a famous American song “Keep on Rolling” by REO Speedwagon that uses the line “keep on rolling” which has the same meaning. I am very sorry that my students in China will not be able to click on this link, as Google/YouTube is censored in your country, and I cannot find an alternative source for this material. (If you know of a place like this though, please let me know!!) https://youtu.be/AymtlSTW_rA
