I have another bit of English slang for you today

! The phrase is break a bill. This means to exchange a paper bill such as a 100, 50, 20, 10, or 5 dollar bill for the same amount of money in a smaller denomination of currency.

For example:
Sam: Hey John can you break a $20?
John: sure does a 10 and two 5’s work?
Sam: perfect!

In this scenario John gives Sam smaller bills that add up to the larger bill. This makes the money easier to spend in certain scenarios.

This is a very common phrase her in the United States.

Not so helpful in China cuz we use online accounts supported by Tencent and Alibaba. Nobody goes out with paper bills nowadays.Bank clerks are facing unemployment crisis.
