It was a most beautiful Sunday with blue skies, warm temperatures, a slight breeze and peak fall colors. I decided on a brand new trail in a spot rich with gold mining history. Signs of past gold mining activity abound, from abandoned mines, to remnants of houses and even shards and pieces of metal.

Then there are the sweeping views over the surrounding hills and mountains beyond. The forest is a mix of evergreens and aspen, so it is truly a wonderful spot to be on a day like this. I found myself lost in the glory of an explosion of fall colors, it's a feeling that is hard to describe. I kept shooting and ended up with hundreds of pictures. Selecting the most interesting ones, it was still very hard to pick the nine I get to attach here, but I tried to give you fair representation. I hope you enjoy it...
