These days it seems like the easiest way for foreigners to live

in Korea is to be model/fashion model
Personally I think that's really lazy but that's just my opinion lol

If not students, most I've met were models, english teacher or photographer.

I have no idea why there are foreign models a lot but to be honest, I think it's because Korean people have a fantasy of white people and bright skin..it's kinda complicated to explain the whole thing in this tiny chatting box lol

It’s so stupid to think that any work can be lazy or easy Many foreigners work in Asia as models cuz companies need such models same as many Asian models work in USA and Europe Demand creates supply It’s not easiest way to work as a model and if people like such job no one have rights to judge them especially people who don’t have any idea about this sphere It’s really hard job Try to pose for 12 h for catalogue without any rest I’m Korea foreigners don’t have many work options If you are not native eng speaker you can’t be teacher Other big companies usually don’t need them For one foreigner is 5 Korean job seekers

@Polina there's a reason I put 'personally' and 'my opinion' I wouldn't tell you what you just said is stupid. If people are not entitled to their own opinion then what's the point lol I'm sorry but I've seen people who don't even have qualities of a 'model' but they know they will get attention just for being a foreigner and to me that's lazy. Again my opinion. Thanks

@ry ofc it’s ur opinion which you put in public but with such “opinion” you insult people who work as models Yeah 5 year ago every foreigner can be a model without any experience and skills but nowadays deffo no (since I work in this industry I know about this pretty well) Companies want just professionals You can’t be a model only because you are “foreigner” Even for lifestyle scenario

@Polina okay well if there is a model who I offended then I'm sure they can message me privately about it. My post wasn't an invitation for you to belittle my opinion. Actually I know many models who have no experience but okay if you work in the industry I'm sure you know well.
  • ry 2020.02.06 20:11

@Polina and also most of the 'models' I come across only want to model because they know it's an easy option for them to live in Korea. They don't want to take modelling seriously as a career. That is what I mean by its lazy.
  • Mira 2020.02.06 20:20

@Polina what are you talking about, you dont need anything to model they legit take anything. The people I've been seeing modeling wouldnt even bother applying in other countries. Let's all be honest here and admit that modelling is the easiest way to secure a visa in Korea and move on. Sure some places might want a certain weight or skin colour but most of the time theyll accept anything 🤷🏽‍♀️

@ry I know many models here and all of them are doing their job well At least if they didn’t have any experience, they are making it for now Many models go for work to Asia cuz there they can earn much more (it’s normal human instinct to earn much more money) And ofc some girls want go to Korea and live there, they have to earn money As I told before, this country don’t provide many work opportunities for foreigners if you are not unique specialist (ex IT) So there are just some cases: teacher (only for native), work in bar/cafe etc, model So if girl understands that she can do modeling really cool why not then? And actually it’s always obviously if models are doing it just “for living in Korea” or smth like that No one wants work with such people, only if you like this profession you can do it well So I can’t imagine any models whom you are talking about who work without any passion to this job cuz here is huge competition and many really good models who like their job

@Mira give me please example like any brand who hired “model” only cuz it’s “foreigner”
  • Mira 2020.02.06 20:43

    KR

@Polina wait hang on. Your denying brands dont purposefully pick foreigners for their image? Are you serious ? Ofc they'll hire foreigners to make their brands versatile. I thought you were in the industry? What you think they just hire foreigners and koreans the same? Go through visa process and everything when they can just get the same person in korea for less hassle?
  • Mira 2020.02.06 20:43

    EN
    KR

@Polina almost every foreigner in korea has model in their bio and we all know they are not model standards but in Korea it's okay because theyll accept it
  • Polina 2020.02.06 20:47

    RU
    KR

@Mira please read clearly what I said before Yes, ofc brands hire foreigners for image BUT they need professionals like in any spheres
  • Polina 2020.02.06 20:51

    RU
    KR

@Mira and which standards are you talking about? In Europa and Asia are different standards Since we are taking about Asia it’s just skinny, from 155 cm (for photo) and from 172 cm (for podium), baby face or unique face Ofc some brands need models with plus size
  • Polina 2020.02.06 20:53

    RU
    KR

@Mira you can be skinny, pretty with a good shape but if you don’t have any passion for what are you doing you will never be a good choice for any brand
  • Mira 2020.02.06 20:54

    EN
    KR

@Polina funny you mention that because almost every foreigner does not fit the standard in asia which highlights they accept anyoneeeeeeee. Can you accept the fact anyone can model in Korea. No one is belittling the industry. Its just very easy to model in korea end of story.
  • ry 2020.02.06 20:56

    KR

@Mira @Polina If they have such passion for modelling why did they suddenly become a model after moving across the globe ? I know models who have NO experience, went to Korea for the summer, wanted to go back, use model as an excuse then come back after 6 months once realising the reality of living in Korea.
  • Mira 2020.02.06 20:56

    EN
    KR

@Polina listen they accepted alot of my friends who never modeled. Average face, short and normal weight so I really cant believe anything your saying about professionalism. Perhaps the big brands like olive young e.c.t use professional models but majority of small brands use just about anyone
  • Mira 2020.02.06 20:57

    EN
    KR

@Polina Sure some people are genuinely into modeling but I'm yet to meet a 'model' who hasn't started it before Korea 🤷🏽‍♀️
  • Polina 2020.02.06 21:03

    RU
    KR

@Mira maybe cuz I work in the company who hire models for Korean brands and know well about it? And all brands always want what they need It isn’t “just foreigner” I’m glad for your friends, if they really love their job and doing well they will be successful And it’s nothing wrong to start modeling in Korea I don’t understand why you are sensitive about this It’s everywhere in every country
  • ry 2020.02.06 21:46

@Polina I don't understand why you're so sensitive about my opinion. You could have just kept it moving. It's so funny that my opinion is triggering you this much that you feel the need to argue and belittle someone else's opinion. Good for you.
