Ducttaped my truth for their comfort zone, While I spit from a place they’d never condone. They saw strength, I was swallowing fire, Burning alive just to lift them higher. They praise what performs, not what it costs, Mistook all my lyrics for healing, not loss. Their view is the smoke, I’m the mirror they fear, A truth too raw for their souvenir. Where “how are you?” is performance art, and honesty’s a weapon they throw at your heart. I shut down where waters stay still Where safe replies choke what’s real. saying too much makes you “too intense,” but my silence is worn like a fake defense. I’ve been called cold for speaking raw, but warmth without weight is just a flaw. They flinch when I don’t perform pretend then call me mean for not playing friend. But I didn’t come here to float and forget I came to learn souls in every alphabet. To speak in tongues that carry pain, feel the weight behind each name. I don’t dip toes—I drown in grammar. I learn your language so I can hear your armor. So I can dive past “hi” and “bye,” and ask you what still makes you cry. To them, it’s just a sentence to say to me, it’s a shoreline giving way. I study words the way I breathe deep, deliberate, beneath the leaves. I’ve choked on tones, memorized fire, swallowed silence, climbed out of the mire. Language ain’t study, it’s survival with grace, it’s the map back home in a stranger’s face. So don’t invite me to puddles and call it a sea I’m fluent in storms they’ll never be. I don’t crave fluency, I crave meaning, and I’ll tear through structure just to find feeling. Misunderstood? Every time. I speak real, then get charged like it’s a crime. But I’d rather be feared for cutting through lies than worshipped for keeping my truth disguised. This isn’t just art...its blood on beat, Where every word I learn gets tied to heat.
