This little open library in the garden town, reminded of my ‘offline’ best friends I use to get lost in and with when I was younger. I found some books to read^^ There was problems with internet connection where I am staying today so I thought of going out to work at my favorite cafe. Life had other plans and I ended up under my favorite tree reading this exceptionally old little treasure of a book!! Today my appointment was in a hospital that is close to an asian store that recently opened on this little island I live on. It always makes me smile to walk there after hospital. The flowers on the way are gorgeous and all the things I recognize in the shop make me smile. I can’t travel for now and I am still recovering from surgery, I can’t even eat these things unfortunately but this feels like travel cheating^^ I even discovered a coffee shop that has the right combination of the ingredients that make a cafe almost perfect for me! They were waiting for me at my sister’s house where I am taking care of two new friends. A big journey started for me when I packed these boxes. New perspective is gained with age. I found notebooks from when I was ten years old and younger, the first plane ticket I bought to Australia when I was still 18, memories from my teenage years and my twenties, more notes and books, gifts…so many gifts and cards from friends and family, little treasures I picked up from countries I lived in and visited and more notes and reflections. It was overwhelming to experience so many different feelings related to so many memories. My life has been truly rich. I feel at peace knowing I have truly loved and been loved and lived fully. What does it mean to live fully? I think today I reflected on that. Love comes in many forms and in my life, it always comes, especially during the hardest times. It always comes to push me further, just when I am ready to give up, just when I can’t remember my ‘why’, just when it starts feeling hopeless and impossible. As I keep experiencing new levels of pain, fear, uncertainty and difficulties with my medical situation, I also keep experiencing new wonders, flavours and shades of love, connection, grace, peace and most importantly, growth. Sometimes I even dare to dream again. ^^ 이상함마저도 아름다운 How do you experience beauty and love? What helps you remember what matters most? I have had butterflies and moths land on me and have held snakes, a starfish, a fish and a koala and many other animals. Lizards tend to be super shy and run at the first sign of movement. But this morning as I sipped my morning tea on the cliffs, this little guy said hello. He saw me turning around to say hi but instead of running away, came closer and nibbled at my toes!! You should wish to have a hundred thousand sets of mothwings, so you could burn them away, one set a night. The moth sees light and goes into the fire. You should see fire and go toward the light. Fire is what of God is world-consuming. Water, world-protecting. Somehow each gives the appearance of the other. To these eyes you have now, what looks like water, burns. What looks like fire is a great relief to be inside.” (Translated by Coleman Barks) The transformative journey of the soul. How many times are you willing to go through the fire of transformation? I cannot travel much but even at the hospital where I have to go so often these day, I get to meet wonderful people and have lots of heart warming experiences. The moon was brighter than the sun for sunset. My 91 year old granny and I both in hospital at the same time. One got a major diagnosis and solved a two year long medical mystery and the other got high on drugs for the first time ever😆 I was always close to my grandma, I spent a lot of time with her growing up. It feels like she has been there forever and even though I am not scared of death…the thought of her not being around…is hard to digest. Still so much to be grateful for and to learn!!! So many hearts to greet and meet and so much joy to go around! Today while walking to my favorite spot on the cliffs, the clover made me think and wonder. 오늘 저는 절벽에서 제가 가장 좋아하는 장소로 걸어갔습니다. 클로버 식물을 보았습니다 (Is that the right word for this plant in Korean?) I wonder why people look for four-leaf clover for luck when the one that is commonly found, has three hearts anyway. If four-leaf clovers symbolize luck and hearts symbolize love, would you pick luck or love? 사람들은 행운을 상징하기 때문에 잎이 네 개 달린 이 식물을 찾습니다. 하지만 각 잎은 작은 마음처럼 생겼습니다. 그래서 행운 대신 사랑을 상징한다고 할 수 있습니다. 잎이 세 개 있어도 이 식물은 정말 특별하고 귀여워 보입니다. I personally don’t believe in luck, mainly because the concept of luck itself doesn’t make much sense to me. I discovered Korean last winter when I injured my foot. I was alone and couldn’t move. I happened to come across some historical Korean drama and started watching. It was so strange and sounded so unfamiliar and nothing like the Chinese and Japanese I was used to. Now I love listening to songs, poems and anything really in this language that feels like a lullaby to my brain 😊🥰 I am in no hurry to learn grammatical rules or any of that stuff…I enjoy reading and listening and learning about this world that is different from mine but also so similar 😊 I never kept track of the changing seasons so much as I do now. Spring or autumn winds will bring me to your shores.
