## 1. 8/2/2025

It’s been a while since I last posted here!😂
I arrived in Adelaide safely about two weeks ago, and my orientation is just a few days away.
I’m starting to get used to life in Adelaide — although there are still many things and places I don’t know yet!
Now that I’ve settled in a bit, time is flying! Right after I arrived, it felt like time was passing slowly, but not anymore.
I’ll do my best, study hard, and learn as much as I can while I’m in Adelaide!💪

## 2. 6/27/2025

Here’s the second part:

【2】What I Found Important When Managing My Team

1. Assigning the Right Tasks to the Right People
No one is perfect—but if someone is in the department, it means they have some strengths.
I held weekly 1-on-1 meetings to understand their strengths, weaknesses, tasks they felt confident with, those they didn’t, and things they wanted to try.
While I listened to their opinions, I also trusted my own observations.
I didn’t blindly accept everything they said, but I made sure everyone acquired the basic skills required of a recruiter.

⸻

2. How I Tried to Keep the Team Motivated

(1) Explain the Purpose and Context Behind Tasks
I didn’t just assign tasks—I also explained why the task was important and how it connected to the company’s success.
When people understand the purpose of their work, they become more motivated.

(2) Maintain a Healthy Sense of Risk
I sometimes asked myself: “What if someone quits suddenly?” or “What if they lose motivation?”
While I was aware of these risks, I tried not to worry excessively.
I gave feedback modestly and always started by expressing appreciation before pointing out areas to improve.

(3) Create a System that Encourages Ownership
I regularly held team meetings where members could share good examples or ideas.
After appointing two sub-leaders, I gave them responsibility for reporting on their own processes and progress.

(4) Recognize Achievements Through Visualization
I visualized each person’s achievements by comparing current numbers to the previous year.
Whenever possible, I used data to show both what was going well and what wasn’t.
And when I noticed a team member’s success, I praised them directly, right away.

## 3. 6/27/2025

Today, I wrote down the values I prioritized when managing team members.
I hope what I wrote can be helpful to my former colleagues—and maybe to you as well.
I’m not sure how useful it will be, but I’d like to share it with you.

It’s made up of four parts. Here’s the first one:

⸻

【1】Three Core Beliefs I Hold About Work
	1.	We’re expected to achieve great results with limited resources—such as time, money, and energy.
	2.	Therefore, we should always sort things into three categories:
– what we can change
– what we cannot change
– what we should change
	3.	Getting too emotional about team members’ mistakes drains our energy.
Instead, we should focus that energy on what really matters.

## 4. 6/25/2025

Lately, I’ve been preparing for Australia and buying daily necessities and other things.
There are five supermarkets, four drugstores, and four convenience stores within a 15-minute walk.
It’s really convenient, but it feels like a bit too much…😅
Maybe companies should stop focusing only on sales and competition, and instead create things that are truly needed, like daycare centers or nursing homes.

## 5. 6/18/2025

Today was the last day to see one of my bosses. I said, “Thank you for everything,” while my eyes were almost filled with tears but I managed to hold them back.

I don’t like saying goodbye. When I was a kid, I used to cry every time I said goodbye to my grandparents, even though I knew I’d see them again.
I bet I’ll definitely cry like a baby when I leave Japan.

Anyway, changing the subject!
I’m going to play board games with my university friend tomorrow at the board game cafe I went to last week! Yay! I’m so excited 😆

## 6. 6/15/2025

I met up with three of my university friends yesterday!
It had been four years since we last saw each other!

In a good way, they hadn’t changed at all! It felt just like we were back in university.

Two of them came all the way from Osaka, and the other from Chiba, just to see me in Nagoya.

We were eating non-stop, one café and four restaurants 😂
My favorite was 大甚本店 (Daijin Honten).
It’s been open since 1907 and has a long history.
Every dish was delicious 🤤 The ingredients were top quality, and the vibe was nostalgic!
By 5 pm, the place was already packed!

We drank a lot of alcohol, but we held it well.
After eating and drinking, we played some board games.
The alcohol didn’t affect us at all, and it felt like we were totally sober.

We talked about so many things, like their married lives, old university memories, work, and more.
It was such a fun day!🍻

Today’s lunch!🐟
The portion wasn’t very big, so I was still hungry. I really wanted to eat more, but I resisted. Thanks to that, I didn’t feel sleepy after lunch. Good job, me!

## 8. 6/11/2025

I love Kansai humor so much.
People from the Kansai region (e.g. Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, etc.) tend to have a great sense of humor, and their jokes and conversations are really funny. They also speak in the Kansai dialect.
We’re going to get together in Nagoya this weekend, so we’ve been chatting.
Except for me, everyone is from Osaka, and the conversation is already getting hilarious😂 Just look at the messages!

👩🏻 “It’s so sad that it’ll be raining this weekend.
I want to visit Nagoya Castle.
Wait, am I the only one who hasn’t been to Nagoya for sightseeing?”

👱‍♀️ “Apparently.”

👩🏻 “Noooo,
I’ve been there, but I’ve never visited any sightseeing spots.”

👱‍♀️ “Most people go on a trip to Nagoya at least once.”

👩🏻 “Because Nagoya went into national isolation!” ⬅️Of course not😂

Me: lol🤣

## 9. 5/27/2025

These days in Japan, more and more people are putting fried shrimp keychains on their bags.
I saw at least five people with one on their bags or backpacks.
It’s so funny, and I love it! It made me want to eat fried shrimp🍤

## 10. 5/23/2025

A few days ago, I had a chance to look at some stationery during work, so I’d like to share a bit about Japanese stationery🖊️
It reminded me how proud we should be of our stationery culture in Japan.

First of all, there are so many kinds of functional stationery, for kids, exam-takers, and adults.
Each stationery company puts a lot of creativity and effort into their products.
For example, when it comes to pencils, some brands focus on making the lead harder to break, while others prioritize smooth writing texture. I was really impressed.

These days, I’m not very particular about stationery, but I used to be, especially when I was a kid. I loved choosing my favorite items.
We have so many cute stationery items for children, such as scented erasers, rocket pencils, puffy stickers…🥰
There are also different types of notebooks for various subjects like English, math, and music because each subject needs a suitable format.

In Japan, most classes are conducted in lecture style, so students are expected to take notes.
I believe other countries often emphasize discussion-based learning more, so this might be something new to some of you.

I’d also like to introduce two unique types of notebooks: the 連絡帳 (communication notebook) and the こづかい帳 (allowance ledger)📖
The former is used to write down the next day’s school schedule and things to bring.
When I was in elementary school, our teacher would write the information on the blackboard for us to copy.
The latter is a notebook to track your money, recording the date, income, and expenses. I think it’s a great tool for children to learn how to manage money.
