We just… don’t have it. I didn’t even know what curry was until I left India. I was fourteen, a friend dragged me to this so-called “Indian restaurant” and proudly ordered me curry. Strange, isn’t it? That I hadn’t gone until now. Almost ridiculous, when you think about it. Like owning a record player for years and never once playing a Miles Davis album. The heat was unbearable. Over 40°C. In April. Honestly, I don’t know how I managed it. Or maybe I didn’t. Maybe a part of me just melted on the sidewalk and stayed there. I used to be braver than this. I’m sure of it. Somewhere along the way, something shifted. Like someone quietly rearranged the furniture inside me when I wasn’t looking. I want to travel around a bit before I head to Japan. See some things, feel something shift again. But I’m worried. Not about anything in particular.
