Recently, while reading "The Empty Valley and the Quiet Orchid," I noticed that American travelers would drink beer even on the mountain paths when visiting Chinese hermits. Out of curiosity, I tried Kirin and Asahi beers, but just one bottle 🍺 was enough to make me unsteady. I tested myself and found I had ataxia (positive Romberg's sign). Well, it seems alcohol is not for me. But I still have to attend a study meeting tomorrow evening, cursing the formalism in my heart... After work, I finished my meal as quickly as possible and rushed to the small reading room across from the hospital to read this book📚 I've been wanting to read for so long. An American author researching🧐 China's "hermits"—how fascinating! I admire hermits, but I'm a person with deep desires myself. There are still so many things I want to do; I can't achieve a state of perfect tranquility. The American writer's perspective is quite unique, reminding me of another American author who wrote "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword."
