Một sự ngây thơ đáng yêu. Một niềm tin rằng, người ta nói vậy vì thương mình thật. Rằng khen là thật, rằng quan tâm là thật, rằng niềm vui có thể chia ra mà vẫn giữ nguyên vẹn trong tay. Nhưng rồi bạn lớn lên. Và bạn phát hiện: có những lời khen là bẫy. Có những cái nhìn trìu mến là con dao lưỡi ngọt. Có những lần bạn mở lòng ra, chỉ để thấy người khác dùng chính những điều bạn kể làm nguyên liệu cho câu chuyện bên bàn nhậu. Bạn học được cách im lặng. Không phải vì lạnh lùng, mà vì quá nhiều lần bị lắng nghe sai cách. Một câu nói thật lòng, bị bóp méo thành khoe khoang. Một lời chia sẻ đau đáu, bị dịch thành… than thân trách phận. Bạn bắt đầu hiểu, sự thật không còn quan trọng bằng việc nó được kể trong tai ai. Thế là bạn gói niềm vui lại trong hộp, ràng buộc bằng sợi dây cảnh giác. Ký ức đẹp cũng không còn muốn kể, vì sợ ánh mắt nghi ngờ: “Sao lúc nào cũng nói chuyện hay ho vậy nhỉ?” Còn nỗi buồn – bạn giấu luôn, vì mệt mỏi với những câu an ủi nhạt như nước cơm: “Rồi mọi chuyện sẽ ổn thôi mà.” Không ổn. Nhưng bạn gật đầu. Bạn học được cách tồn tại mà không cần quá nhiều phản hồi. Bạn dừng lại ở ranh giới giữa chia sẻ và giữ lại. Biết đâu là thật, đâu là diễn. Nhận ra đôi khi, kể ra quá nhiều, là trao cho người khác chìa khóa để bước vào rồi phá nát căn phòng nội tâm bạn. Nên bạn sống kín hơn, ít nói hơn, nhưng cũng sâu hơn. Tôi không nói bạn đừng tin ai. Tôi chỉ bảo rằng, đừng coi việc được lắng nghe là quyền mặc định. Bởi vì có những người cả đời chỉ mong có ai đó hiểu mình. Nhưng cũng có những người, càng sống lâu, càng hiểu ra: hiểu chính mình đã đủ mệt, cần gì bắt người khác hiểu. Và bạn bước đi. Im lặng. Bình thản.
