My Korean recovery session: it feels like starting all over.

It's been a little over a year since I came to Korea. I still feel a bit confused and unsettled.

Over the past 14 years, I was in survival mode as I lived in several different countries. And I ended up getting more distant from Korea.

Right after I returned to Korea, I was surprised and frustrated that my Korean wouldn't come out naturally. And yes it's my first language.

I can tell my Korean is coming back quickly now, but the foreign languages I worked on so hard are fading fast. My listening is getting worse, and my speaking in them started to feel challenging and overwhelming.

As an adult, this is my first time actually living in Korea using only Korean. I'm still clumsy and full of mistakes with it, and honestly a bit scared too.

Even then, I'm trying to accept where I am. This unfamiliar feeling is part of my life now, and I'm slowly finding my footing again.

## 3. 8/11/2025

Happiness is actually always around us but we just tend to forget it sometimes.

Every day, tens of moments bring a smile to my face over and over again.
Jeden Tag bringen mich kleine Momente immer wieder zum Lächeln.

However, there are times when my mind is captivated by negative thoughts, and I miss the happiness that's right beside me.

A bright sunny sky, delicious food, a peaceful street, a warm smile from someone. I found myself smiling several times because of these little things.

It was truly another grateful and precious day.
Estoy un día agradecido y precioso otra vez.

No matter how hard life goes, I hope you never miss these little moments of happiness.

Was our meeting really just a coincidence?

In life, we encounter and cross paths with countless people.

Some might turn into previous connections, and some leave us with hard lessons.

A long friendship can drift away over a trivial misunderstanding. While someone we didn't think much of at first can become truly special.

Sometimes you keep running into someone you thought you'd never see again and they end up becoming part of your life.

When I think about it, maybe not every meeting is just random chance.

So I try to be genuine with every person I meet.

Even now, I very much look forward to seeing who will walk into my life next.

I felt a bit frustrated so I decided to cook.

I first went to several supermarkets to do grocery shopping.

I got so focused that I didn't even realize 3 hours had passed.

Standing in front of the stove on a hot day like today made me sweat from head to toe.

But chopping, dicing, frying and steaming helped me release all the stress.

I stored the finished meals in the fridge and freezer separately.

It is so satisfying to know I won't have to worry about what to eat for the next week.

Morning Reminder

You're endlessly forgiving towards others, but endlessly harsh on yourself.

This kind of mindset usually stems from a lack of self compassion and self love.

You end up hurting yourself every day, repeating words that bring you down.

You easily forgive others for their mistakes, sometimes even offering unlimited praises.

But this habit makes you shrink, and makes you feel smaller and smaller over time.

You need to recognize your own worth. That's the way you'll attract relationships that truly support you.

It's time to let go of the harsh standards you hold against yourself. And instead, treat yourself with love, care, respect and understanding.

Deep inside, we're all still children at heart.

That innocent, young part of us is always there.

We just sometimes forget it under the suppression from weight of life.

Sometimes, we long for those reckless, carefree days.

The things is, that free-spirited child still lives within us.

It's okay to let that child out sometimes.

If only we can be our true selves, even for a moment without that mask or adulthood.

Cooking is more than just a hobby to me.

When I feel complicated or confused, cooking helps me relax.

I enjoy trying new recipes and adding my own tweak to them.

It feels satisfying to see a fish beautifully arranged.

I also feel happy when someone enjoys the food I made with care.
También me siento feliz ver alguien disfrutar mi cocina/comida.

For me, cooking is a special language to express emotions like gratitude, affection, or even forgiveness.

Do you also feel something special when you cook?
Fühlst du dich auch beim Kochen solche kleine Emotionen?
¿Tú también sientes emotiones especial cuando cocinas?

## 9. 7/15/2025

The weight of words: speak wisely, connect gently.

Once your words leave your mouth, you no longer have control over them, but they belong to the listener.
That's why it's wise not to over share personal stories, especially with people you don't fully trust yet.
They'll judge your story through their own lens, often without meaning to, and their interpretation can end up hurting your image in ways you didn't expect.
What you share can be used against you, sometimes to manipulate, sometimes to gain power over you.

A truthful relationship isn't built on sharing every details of each other's lives.
Sometimes, real connection grows from being able to listen, emphasize, and respect each other, without oversharing too much too soon.
That's why it's important to keep a healthy distance while getting to know someone, at least until trust is firmly built.
Keeping that space doesn't make you fake, it's more a way of protecting both people as the relationship develops.

Remember, once something is said, it can't be taken back.
Being careful with your words isn't just about saying less, it's about having the wisdom to protect yourself and others.
Be mindful of the weight your words carry, and choose to communicate with carefulness and consideration.

## 10. 7/12/2025

I started learning piano when I was 4 years old.

Back then, my legs were too short to reach the pedals.
Entonces mi patas estan demasiado bajos y no puedo llegar a los pedales.

When I turned 10, I had to give it up because my parents didn't support it.

Over time, I became distant from piano. But as an adult, I got the chance to play again.

Sitting at the piano brought me so much joy and it felt like reconnecting with myself that I had lost.

Now, I can't imagine life without the piano.

What instrument do you play?
Welche Instrument spielst du?
¿Tocas algún instrumento?
