This Is How You Know Someone’s a Good Person — Before You Even Hear Them Speak:
We have all experienced this before. You may be meeting someone for the first time and your internal game show starts flipping the lights on, Is this a good person? Can I trust them? What is behind that smile?
Some of the most dangerous people I have ever met have mastered the “act like a good person” persona, while some of the most generous people’s kindness and goodness exists behind quiet, unassuming facades.
Because if there is one lesson I have learned it is this, goodness whispers. Goodness does not shout.
Good, really good, people are those who listen even when there is nothing to gain from listening and who show you your voice matters when others have subside.
People typically determine someone’s kindness by the way they treat them. But the best indicator? The way someone treats people who have nothing to offer them.
The best of humans do the right thing… especially when no one is watching.
People often say, “Look into someone’s eyes and they’ll show you who they are.” Let me layer waste to that illusion: the best manipulator I ever knew had the softest, big-eyed, soulful look about them.
I’ve learned you should not base goodness solely on eye contact, smile, and warm tone of voice. They are all skills, and skills can be faked.
What cannot be faked? Their actions when nothing is at stake. Their behavior in a moment when they know wrong doesn’t matter.
Genuine goodness is not flashy. It doesn’t draw attention to itself.
In a world filled with so much emphasis on appearances, goodness is still in the details.
So here’s my invitation to you: The next time you are meeting someone for the first time, don’t trust the charm. Instead, look at the small things. Feel the space between their words. Pay attention to how they treat people they don’t need. This is where the truth is.

Here’s a bit of humor 😅
Because it gets dark so early these days, and we all need a laugh, or we will go mad.
Please comment with your favorite way to tell people to f#*k off in your native language.

Nothing would delight me, a reformed people-pleaser, more.
Here are some ways:
Your absence is required.
I wish we were better strangers.
Please find somewhere else to exist.
There is nothing to be gained by further conversation. Goodbye.
I never forget a face. But in your case, I’ll make an exception.
Spare me the pleasure of your company.
Sorry, I don’t speak English (In perfect English)
Well, bless your heart! (If you’re from the South)
Namaste (If you’re vegan)

Get out there and use them- but use them wisely.

## 5. 3/17/2025

Let’s talk about those of us who have mastered the art of walking away — the self-isolators, the quiet warriors of absence.
These are the architects of emotional distance, transforming absence into armor and silence into a shield.
They have perfected the quiet exit, vanishing into the shadows of relationships before the light can reveal their vulnerabilities.
Walking away, is it strength or is it survival? You are not invincible because you can cut people off without looking back. Perhaps you are wounded because you never learned how to endure solitude.
Every connection carries the weight of potential abandonment.
Distance becomes your closest friend, your ever-reliable ally in a world where closeness feels like a liability. Your own defense exhausts you.
The self protecting souls walls aren’t fortresses of arrogance but monuments to pain. These walls were built brick by brick in moments of collapse, in the wake of connections that became wounds.
And they sit proud in their own walls perhaps as a prisoner. Self-isolators are master of their craft, though few ever realize the cost of their expertise.
But the thing is, there’s always a glimmer of hope in isolation. The walls come down, brick by brick. A moment of vulnerability met with grace instead of fear.

## 6. 2/5/2025

I used to think anger was something bad. That it made a person bitter, ugly, hard to love. So I swallowed it. Buried it. Let it sit inside me like a stone, pressing against my ribs, making it harder to breathe.
But anger doesn’t go away just because you ignore it. It waits. It sharpens itself in the silence.
For the longest time, I let people cross lines and take more than they gave. I told myself to be patient. To be kind. To be understanding. I thought if I loved people enough, if I forgave enough, they would see my heart and stop hurting me.
I have polished my anger, and now it’s a knife. Not to hurt. Not to wound. But to cut myself free from anything that does not serve me.
I used to mistake endurance for strength. Thought that staying, that forgiving, that waiting for someone to change meant I was strong. But strength isn’t about how much you can take. It’s about knowing when you’ve had enough.
Because no one remembers how many times you kept the peace at your own expense. No one thanks you for staying silent so they wouldn’t feel guilty. No one applauds you for making yourself smaller just so they could feel bigger.
If my boundaries offend them, they can walk away. If my truth makes them uncomfortable, they can look elsewhere. If my anger makes me “hard to handle,” then they were never meant to hold me in the first place. Because my anger is not just anger. It is love that was betrayed. It is patience that was wasted. It is kindness that was taken for granted.
And now, I hold it differently. I have polished my anger, and now it’s a knife. Not one that wounds without thought – but one that makes sure I am never left unarmed again.

## 7. 1/18/2025

There’s a certain peace in letting go of control, in believing that what is truly yours will always find its way back to you. It’s not easy to trust in something so intangible, especially in a world that glorifies chasing, achieving, and possessing. But this thought—that what is meant for you will come—feels like a soft promise in the chaos of life.
There were moments I clung too tightly to things, afraid to lose them. But those very things—relationships, jobs, ambitions—slipped away anyway. At the time, it felt like failure, like life was punishing me for not being stronger, smarter, or more deserving.
With time, I’ve come to understand that not everything that leaves is a loss. Some things are not ours to keep, no matter how much we want them to be. They were lessons, moments of growth, or temporary comforts meant to prepare us for something greater. What is truly ours doesn’t require a desperate grip. It flows into our lives effortlessly, often when we least expect it.
This doesn’t mean we stop trying or striving. It means we stop forcing. There’s beauty in this surrender. It’s the kind of beauty that comes with understanding that life has its own rhythm, one that we can’t always hear but must learn to trust. When life feels stagnant, or when the absence of what I long for becomes unbearable, the doubt creeps in. What if I’ve been waiting in vain?
But then I remind myself: The universe doesn’t work on my timeline, but it works. It rearranges, it tests, it teaches. It’s in understanding that sometimes, the wait is part of the gift, shaping me into someone ready to receive. And so, I choose to walk forward with an open heart and open hands, trusting the process. Because what is mine will always find me, and when it does, it will feel like coming home.

## 10. 12/14/2024

In a world obsessed with grand gestures and loud achievements, we often overlook the quiet power of the little things. A shared glance, the sound of someone’s laughter, the warmth of a hand brushing against yours — these moments may seem small, but they carry the weight of eternity.
We live for these little things without even realizing it. The way the sun feels on your skin on a cold day. The way someone remembers your favorite something without asking. The way the sky shifts to hues of gold and violet as if painting a masterpiece just for you. These are not just trivial parts of life; they are the essence of it.
Life doesn’t wait for fireworks to announce its beauty. It happens in whispers . Greatness is not found in the loud; it is built in the soft and subtle, the unseen and unsaid.
The little moments are the ones that catch you when the big ones falter. When dreams collapse or relationships end, it’s the small kindnesses that remind you to keep going.
These moments are life’s way of telling you that you are seen, heard, and loved. They are anchors when the world feels overwhelming, and they are gifts wrapped in simplicity.
So stop, and let the little moments catch up with you. Let them fill the spaces you didn’t realize were empty. Because when you look back, you’ll see that they were never little at all .
